Relining is a related process for fibreglass pools, where multiple layers of fibreglass laminate and gelcoat are applied over the prepared shell to create a fully sealed, smooth surface.

How long does resurfacing take?
Most residential jobs take 5–7 days from drain to refill. Fibreglass relines take slightly longer — typically 7–10 days — due to layered application and curing time. The wet season (December–March) can extend timelines slightly.
Will resurfacing fix my leaking pool?
In most cases, yes. Most pool leaks come from cracks in the shell surface, which are repaired during the preparation phase. The new surface then creates a continuous waterproof membrane. Persistent leaks around fittings or lights may need additional plumbing investigation.
Do I need a QBCC-licensed contractor?
Yes. Any pool resurfacing work over $3,300 (incl. GST) in Queensland must be carried out by a QBCC-licensed contractor. This also means the work is covered under the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme. You can verify a licence at my.qbcc.qld.gov.au.
Is winter a good time to resurface?
Yes — it’s actually ideal. Gold Coast winters are mild with lower humidity, which is better for curing new pool surfaces. Demand is lower in winter too, so bookings are faster and pricing is often more competitive.
