Pool Resurfacing & Relining

Restore your pool to like-new condition — without the cost of a full rebuild. We resurface concrete and fibreglass pools across the Gold Coast.

what is it

What is pool resurfacing?

Pool resurfacing removes the old, worn surface from your pool shell and applies a fresh finish. It restores the watertight seal, improves the feel underfoot, and extends your pool’s life by 15–25 years — at a fraction of the cost of a rebuild.

Relining is a related process for fibreglass pools, where multiple layers of fibreglass laminate and gelcoat are applied over the prepared shell to create a fully sealed, smooth surface.

Signs you need it

When does a pool need resurfacing?

When does a pool need resurfacing?

Pool losing water without an obvious plumbing leak

Surface feels rough, sharp, or uncomfortable underfoot

Visible cracks, chips, or flaking on the pool shell

Severe fading or staining that no longer cleans up

benefits of fixing it early

why fix it sooner than later?

When does a pool need resurfacing?

Lower overall cost

Surface cracks left untreated allow water to reach the shell structure, turning a simple resurface into a more expensive structural repair job.

Better water chemistry

A degraded surface makes it harder to maintain correct pH and chlorine levels, increasing your chemical spend over time.

More swim time

Booking in winter or the off-season means a faster turnaround — your pool is ready before summer hits.

Prices are indicative for a standard 8-10m residential pool in good structural condition. Crack repair, rust treatment, or difficult access will affect the final price.

How it works

Typical Process

On-site inspection & fixed-price quote

We assess the shell, identify any cracks or rust issues, and provide a written fixed-price quote.

Drain & surface preparation

The pool is drained and the old surface is ground back to a clean, porous substrate.

Crack repair & rust treatment

Structural cracks are filled and rust-stained rebar is treated before any new material goes on.

New surface application

Your chosen finish is applied evenly across the full shell — walls, floor, steps, and ledges.

Refill & chemical startup

The pool is refilled and water chemistry is balanced using a new-surface startup protocol.

Gold Coast

Gold Coast Considerations

Local factors that affect your job

Gold Coast pools face conditions that are harder on pool surfaces than most of Australia: year-round UV intensity, salt air (especially within 5km of the coast), high humidity, and sandy soil movement. We use Queensland-grade pebblecrete mixes and fibreglass coatings specified for these conditions — not generic interstate products. This matters for how long your new surface actually lasts.

FAQS

Frequently asked questions

Most residential jobs take 5–7 days from drain to refill. Fibreglass relines take slightly longer — typically 7–10 days — due to layered application and curing time. The wet season (December–March) can extend timelines slightly.

In most cases, yes. Most pool leaks come from cracks in the shell surface, which are repaired during the preparation phase. The new surface then creates a continuous waterproof membrane. Persistent leaks around fittings or lights may need additional plumbing investigation.

Yes. Any pool resurfacing work over $3,300 (incl. GST) in Queensland must be carried out by a QBCC-licensed contractor. This also means the work is covered under the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme. You can verify a licence at my.qbcc.qld.gov.au.

Yes — it’s actually ideal. Gold Coast winters are mild with lower humidity, which is better for curing new pool surfaces. Demand is lower in winter too, so bookings are faster and pricing is often more competitive.
